National Black Dog Day
Yes it’s another national day…but what better one than to celebrate the beauty of all those black dogs out there.
Why Black dogs you say?…well sadly black dogs (and cats) are definitely the ones that people overlook when choosing a pet…I’ve seen this first hand with my own experience working with rescues. People love “colour” – patterns, patches, spots, stripes – but not.. ..
JUST BLACK.
Obviously there are lots of exceptions to this rule and thankfully many of you – like me,
LOVE black dogs and cats.
My very own first ever dog was black. I named her Penny and she was a beautiful Collie x Labrador.
At approximately 8 weeks old, her and her brother were left tied to a post at the end of the gate to the Boarding Kennels where I lived.
Abandoned in Winter!
I begged my Mum to let me keep her and thankfully she said yes.
Sadly I don’t have any quality photos of Penny to share here, but I have photographed so many BEAUTIFUL black dogs over the years, it would be selfish not to share at least some of these with you.
So here are just a few of the many, many lovely black dogs that I have been privileged to meet and photograph.
I hope you enjoy them:
