Did you get it right…?
……Skye (2 years old) and Steele (18 months) are Patterdale Terriers
…. as you can see both are very alert here and ready to go at a moment’s notice!
Originally bred in the Lake District (named after the village of the same name) and sometimes called Fell Terriers, they were used to hunt rats, foxes and rabbits.
Although not a recognised Kennel Club Breed in the UK, the popularity of this breed is growing and competing with the more well known Jack Russell and Border terriers.
Steele – this little man completely stole my heart. He has a handsome face, the glossiest coat and the softest nature
Scruff (above) is an example of a rough coated Patterdale. I had the privilege of meeting and photographing him last year.
As you can see he has an equally cute face as the smooth coated varieties – and the same never ending energy!
Skye (next to a space where Steele previously sat!).
Patterdales make perfect pets if you have an active lifestyle – these little monkeys may look very cute, but don’t be deceived into thinking they’d make good lap dogs!
They are super energetic and need lots of stimulation with activities (such as agility or flyball) to keep them busy, and long walks to burn up all that energy they have

There is also a breed rescue based in Surrey if you are an experienced Terrier owner looking to rehome one of these lovely little dogs.
